Plate count

Bacterial count is a measure of the number of microorganisms per unit, such as ml or gram. It is expressed as colony forming unit (cfu) per ml or gram (cfu/ml or cfu/gram).

Livestock

Germ count is an indication of overall hygiene in the barn. The bacterial count reflects all microorganisms, including the non-harmful bacteria. As soon as the overall bacterial count rises, so does the chance of harmful bacteria. The lower the bacterial count, the more hygienic the barn. The target value is 10,000 cfu/ml.
